Mussels made in Charron

The mussels of Bouchot are a synonymous of tradition and quality in Charentes-Maritimes. Its tender, firm and orange flesh participates to its famousness.

A specific way of growing : Small mussels are caught with 50 metres horizontal ropes in March or April and then moved on bouchots to continue growing from June. Mussels are usually collected in June or July of the following year when they finished growing.

Mussels of Charron : It is a specific protected designation covering a production area in the “Aiguillon Bay” with Mussels production places such as Marsilly, Esnandes et Charron. Local producers use a local knowledge which make the Mussel of bouchot with no comparisons.
